Organized by the Whole Grains Council and Oldways, April 4, 2012 was the first annual Worldwide Whole Grain Sampling Day. On this day, consumers everywhere discovered opportunities to try more whole grains. Here are just a few of the events that took place:
- We tooled around Boston in a Duck Boat, handing out thousands of whole grain samples to commuters, shoppers, students, and even firefighters and police. You can read about the fun on the Whole Grains Council blog.
- Volunteers at the University of Minnesota converged as a Flash Mob, with music and dancing, to draw attention, then handed out samples to the gathering crowd.
- Dozens of supermarkets paired up with manufacturers to offer free whole grain samples in stores.
