Piedmont, Italy: Truffles, Wine & More

Piedmont is known for its spectacular wines, truffles, rice, chocolate, cheeses and more! To bring it all together, Chef Kevin O’Donnell of Giusto Restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island helped to guide us through the week, including a wonderful hands-on cooking class. We enjoyed guided food, wine and cultural tours with and food and wine guide Alice Rossi, as well as our local guide Carlotta. We’ll stayed in one hotel in Turin, within easy walking distance of the elegant center city, full of charm, great shopping, cultural sites and world class museums. We ventured outside Turin to visit producers of Barolo wines, chocolate, rice, cheese and to learn about truffles and truffle hunting. We also learned about vermouth, and each made our own vermouth mixture. As always, we ate fabulously in neighborhood trattorias, wineries and classic city restaurants.

The Piedmont Culinaria awarded 14.5 CPEUs in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s CPEU Prior Approval Program.
