What You’ll Love about Your Week in Bordeaux
If you love learning about wine, the Bordeaux Culinaria is made for you. We’ll be visiting wineries for tours and tastings in three of Bordeaux’s wine regions: Medoc, Sauternes and Entre-Deux-Mers. You’ll find each visit to be different, with particular attention paid to tradition, adaptation, food-wine pairings, and an introduction to a region not as well known.
Being synonymous with wine, Bordeaux is also home to a new wine museum, Cite du Vin, opened in 2016. Architecturally interesting and full of interactive and sensory wine exhibits, it is a place to learn everything you want to know about wine — worldwide!
The city of Bordeaux itself is spectacular – elegant, approachable, and easily walkable. We’ll have a food tour, stopping in local specialty shops, boulangerie, cheese shops and more, plus a cultural tour, a cooking class and some great meals.
If history is one of your fascinations, we’ll venture to the Dordogne to visit the Lascaux Cave, featuring paintings that are thought to be some of the earliest and most detailed human paintings. While we are there, we’ll visit with a truffle producer and have lunch at a lovely Relais & Chateaux Hotel.
You’ll return home with new wine knowledge and a deeper appreciation for this beautiful city and region.
