Chef Alex Raij is the author ofThe Basque Book: A Love Story in Recipes from the Kitchen of Txikito, a deeply personal cookbook inspired by home cooking traditions of the Basque country. Chef Alex Raij attended culinary school and trained in Milan and the Pacific Northwest and is currently the chef and owner, along with her husband Eder Montero, of several popular New York restaurants: Txikito, El Quinto Pino and El Comedor in Manhattan and La Vara in Brooklyn. A leading authority on Basque cuisine and multicultural cooking, Raij is a six-time semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: New York City and a two-time nominee for the James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restauranteur.
