Whole Grains: Breaking Barriers Conference

In response to the growing misinformation surrounding gluten-free and grain-free diets, Oldways hosted a sold-out conference called Whole Grains: Breaking Barriers, featuring award-winning speakers specialized in celiac disease, grain nutrition, nutrition communication, and more. Attendees were able to use the evidence-based, easy-to-understand points at the conference to counter misinformation about grains and gluten, and sponsors showcased the versatility of whole grain products in conference meals and snacks and expo booths. In the months and years that followed, the gluten-free fad has tapered off in popularity, and Americans are eating more whole grains.

Understanding the Proposed FDA Healthy Definition (Webinar)

In this webinar event attended by more than 1,000 registered dietitians, Oldways partnered with KIND Snacks to inform dietitians on the updates to FDA’s proposed healthy definition, the complexities of our labeling landscape, and the implications that this definition will have on dietetic practice. Attendees were empowered to make their voices heard and advocate for labeling systems that improve public health and diet quality in Americans.

Global Plates of Expression (Digital Project)

The Peanut Institute utilized Oldways’ expertise in cultural food traditions and recipe development to create and photograph multiple “Plates of Expression” displaying a variety of delicious, global peanut recipes, from West Africa, to Mexico, to Spain, and beyond. Consumers viewing the project on social media and online came away with a better understanding of how peanuts fit into a broad range of healthy heritage diets.
