We’re on the cusp of Whole Grains Month, and the sweet aroma of slow simmering porridge is starting to waft through the air.

Whole grains and whole grain flours are some of the most prized ingredients in chefs’ arsenals, because they have such rich, complex flavors that can add an entirely new dimension to a dish. Best of all, this trend is also a win-win for your health, since whole grains that include all of their bran, germ, and endosperm are associated with numerous health benefits.

By now, you have probably tried whole grain cereal, whole wheat bread, or brown rice. But if it’s been a while since you perused the grain aisle, you might be surprised at the variety of options available. Thanks to the popularity of whole grains and ancient grains over the past few years, many supermarkets and restaurants offer an entirely new world of whole grains to explore, from quinoa, to farro, to sorghum, and more!

Once you’ve got your products, the fun really begins. Our online recipes (that can be filtered by grain) are a great place to start.
