Paola Garza joined Oldways in 2017 as Program Coordinator and Office Manager to help coordinate day-to-day activities, fulfill online orders, and promote Latin American food traditions and tastes.
She was born and raised in Mexico and graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food science. She came to Boston in 2011 to pursue a master’s degree in Health Communications from Lasell College.
Before joining Oldways, Paola worked with Dr. Enrique Caballero, the founder of the Latino Diabetes Initiative, at Joslin Diabetes Center. While at Joslin, she worked on sharing culturally-appropriate educational materials and promoting Latin American food traditions to prevent type 2 diabetes.
Paola enjoys cooking healthy Mexican foods and sharing traditional Mexican culture that calls for family meals, sharing responsibilities in the kitchen, enjoying fresh seasonal vegetables, fruits, and legumes, together with meat, fish, and chicken. She wants to illustrate that preparing delicious, healthy Latino dishes doesn’t have to be expensive, difficult, or time-consuming.
