Janice Newell Bissex is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, recipe developer, speaker, holistic cannabis consultant, and cookbook author at Fifteen years after co-founding Meal Makeover Moms, she started a new journey at Janice Cooks, with a mission to share her love of simple and healthy cooking. Janice recently completed training to become a holistic cannabis consultant. Her next adventure involves helping people with chronic pain or debilitating conditions to navigate the evolving and confusing world of medical marijuana, with practical information on best ways to consume and cook with cannabis.

A 2015 recipient of the Academy’s Media Excellence Award, Janice just released her latest book—Color and Eat the Alphabet: Healthy Eating from A to Z —an educational coloring book for kids of all ages. She is past president of the Massachusetts Dietetic Association and past chair of the Food & Culinary Professionals practice group of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She received her undergraduate degree in Food & Nutrition from University of Maine, and her Master of Science in Nutrition from Boston University, and has completed training both at the Culinary Institute of America and the Intermediate Wine Program at Boston University.

Janice formerly served as nutrition consultant to the U.S. Senate Restaurants and Boston Harbor Hotel and serves on the Nutrition Advisory Boards at Dunkin Brands, Johnson & Wales University, and the National Turkey Federation. She lives outside of Boston where she enjoys testing recipes, hosting cooking classes and events, and entertaining with her husband, Don, in their newly renovated kitchen.
